Steven Schiano

Steven grew up both working and playing in the Genesee River watershed. Activities such as fishing, kayaking and downhill skiing in the area allowed him to become familiar with the area’s wide variety of recreational opportunities from an early age. Pairing this with a career centered around his family’s logging business, Steven has been able to gain a strong appreciation for the many resources the watershed provides for its surrounding communities.

Currently Steven, his father, and two brothers operate S.E. Schiano Logging based in Swain, NY. The business provides services that include timber harvesting, tree planting, invasive species removal, stream bank stabilization, and excavation in Livingston and surrounding counties. They strive to help local landowners achieve long-term forest health and productivity, while also improving access to the many recreational opportunities our local lands and waters provide. Steven’s involvement in RiverWatch stems from his interest in promoting and improving the many great resources the Genesee provides for our area.

In his spare time Steven still enjoys downhill skiing, kayaking local waterways, and fishing for smallmouth bass on the upper portion of the river. Aside from Genesee RiverWatch, he also serves on the Livingston County Farm Bureau Board of Directors.
