Terry Schmitz

Both professionally and personally I have been involved in a variety of ecological restoration projects, specializing in stormwater mitigation and management with the goal of protecting our freshwater resources in this region.

As Branch Manager at R.M. Landscape, I have been able to learn and understand the commercial maintenance side of the landscape industry. In addition, since 2021 I have been part of implementing a new methodology for managing snow and ice in commercial snow services.  The program involves sustainable snow and ice management techniques that have the ultimate goal of protecting our local waterway systems through salt reduction. This has allowed me to explore a totally new way of continuing to pursue my passions within my career path, while tying in the work that takes place through the Genesee RiverWatch.

Over the last 20 years I have worked with the Watershed Education Collaborative, CEI, Monroe County Parks, Genesee Land Trust, Finger Lakes Museum, Gandhi Institute, and The Bergen Swamp Society. I am currently an adviser on the Horticultural Advisory Committee at Finger Lakes Community College.

I am honored to be a part of the Genesee RiverWatch Board.
