Summertime Paddle on Sunday, July 17, 2022

The 2022 Genesee River Paddling Program Continues on Sunday, July 17, 2022 for Intermediate+ Paddlers at the Petten St. Dock

The next guided paddle of the 2022 Genesee River Paddling season, presented by Genesee RiverWatch, the Genesee Waterways Center, and the City of Rochester, will be Sunday, July 17.

This time intermediate+ skill paddlers will explore the Lower River from the Petten St. canoe/kayak dock upriver into the “wilderness in a city” between Turning Point and Lower Falls – an unspoiled area where you will forget that you are in the midst of an urban metropolis. On the way, we will learn about the dredging project to remove waste silver from the river bottom, and we will discuss Rochester’s history as a coal and wheat port and terminus for the Underground Railroad.

Meet at the ADA-compliant dock at 110 Petten Street off Lake Avenue. We will push off at 10:00AM, Sunday, July 17, and return around 1:00PM.
