Michael Kannard

Michael is a retired landscape architect who in his 30 year career has designed projects throughout the country. His work focused mostly on camps, conference centers, passive parks, nature centers, ecological restoration, and environmental conservation.

He has a wide range of interests that include travel, photography, sketching, and kayaking.  It was his passion for protection of the environment that led him to Genesee RiverWatch where he first volunteered as part of the water quality testing crew.  He then worked with George Thomas in designing several kayak access locations along the river and is presently working on the installation of access signage along the river from Rochester to the Pennsylvania.

Michael and his wife Mindy moved from Ohio to her hometown of Irondequoit 10 years ago.  They have two daughters and one granddaughter.  You will usually find his black lab, Chaco, accompanying him on Genesee RiverWatch projects.
